Get Active Workplace Wellness Toolkit
Your company can do its part to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation, and this toolkit can remove your barriers to entry. Each month, businesses can download a new one-page poster that lays out wellness tips, facts, and resources that will give employees immediate takeaways that they can implement in their daily lives. Employers can also download information packets that contain more health facts, suggestions for activities to implement in the workplace, and daily health tips that they can email to employees. Each month will feature a specific themes. The Healthiest State initiative is a privately-led public initiative intended to inspire Iowans and their communities throughout the state to improve their health and happiness. To achieve our goal, individuals, families, businesses, faith-based organizations, not-for-profits and the public sector have united in a community-focused effort to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation. A mobile application that helps keep Des Moines active. Simply go to www.getactivedsm.com and save to your smart phone. This application provides a list of up-coming sporting events, encourages planning and participation in wellness events, creates competition using social gaming features and leader boards, engages the community through Facebook integration and friend check-ins.
Wellness Capital
Make the region a national model of wellness by leveraging existing capacities and governmental, non-profit, and corporate wellness efforts into a holistic wellness program for implementation in Des Moines-area communities. A regional wellness initiative envisioned in the Capital Crossroads regional vision plan, would serve many "Capitals": business, social, human, environmental, physical, governmental, and possibly even cultural.
