Governor Culver Announces West Des Moines for New Microsoft Data Center
Thursday, August 21, 2008
Governor Chet Culver, Microsoft and the Iowa Department of Economic Development announced today that the City of West Des Moines will serve as the site of Microsoft Corporation’s newest data center. The site is located southwest of the intersection of Booneville Road and South 88th Street (also known as Xavier Place). In attendance at the event was a contingent of Microsoft executives, federal and local officials and West Des Moines community leaders.

Des Moines Touted in National Rankings

Central Iowa received kudos across the board in rankings released to the media this week. CNNMoney.com lauded the Des Moines region as one of the nations top markets for affordable housing. Coming in second in the nation behind only Fort Smith, Ark., the editors of Money Magazine praised Des Moines’ city lifestyle and many diverse cultural amenities that complement the area’s cost of living.
