21 , 2000 GREATER DES MOINES PARTNERSHIP TAKES ADVANTAGE OF POLITICAL SPOTLIGHT TO PROMOTE METRO GREATER DES MOINES – As Iowa prepared for it’s "First in the Nation" caucuses and the world’s attention was focused on Greater Des Moines, a full-page advertisement promoting the Metro appeared in USAToday. The bold black and white ad read: "Thousands of politicians and reporters descend on Greater Des Moines every four years. We stay year round. Find out why @www.desmoinesmetro.com." The ad invited USAToday readers to visit the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s new website promoting the Metro area as the best place to Live, Work and Play. The ad and the website were created by Meyocks & Priebe Advertising for the Partnership to help recruit workers and businesses to the Des Moines Metro area. The worldwide web is fast becoming the first place college graduates look when seeking job opportunities after graduation. It is also the first place site selectors look when investigating communities for business expansion or relocation. The advertisement ran in five major print markets, including Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Minneapolis, St. Louis, and Des Moines. The circulation covers 19 states and 100 cities. Posters of the ad were also hung at hotels and restaurants throughout the community to attract the attention of the national media and politicians visiting for the caucuses. The Greater Des Moines Partnership is the economic and community development organization serving Greater Des Moines. Its mission is to maximize local resources to address opportunities for economic and community growth.
