The Partnership was recognized as a Best of Show, Best of Class and as a Superior Award winner
at AEDC’s annual conference in New York City May 6, 2001. As a “Best of Show” Award winner,
the Greater Des Moines Partnership received special recognition at the annual conference
awards luncheon. Additionally, its winning “Best of Show” and “Best of Class” entries are
currently on display at the Economic Development Institute (EDI) in Norman, Oklahoma.
The “Change Your View” campaign was launched October 3, 2000 to differentiate Greater Des
Moines from other booming U.S. cities. The national advertising campaign is still underway
and seeks to change existing perspectives of the metro area by inviting people to both
figuratively and literally “change their view” and see the opportunities and lifestyle
advantages Greater Des Moines has to offer.
The award entries were submitted in the Budget Level A category, which includes any community
with an annual economic development operating budget at or exceeding $500,000. The awards
included: General Purpose Promotion – Honorable Mention; Custom-Written Proposal – Superior;
Audiovisual – Best of Class, Computer Multi-media – Honorable Mention, Website/Multimedia/Other
– Superior; and “Best of Show” for Budget Level A.
The six AEDC awards will be added to nine 2000 American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE)
Awards for Communications Excellence (ACE Awards) received in March, two regional Advertising
Professional’s ADDY awards received in April (national ADDY awards winners will be announced
June 12, 2001 in Cleveland, Ohio)., and four statewide Promotional Materials Awards from
Professional Developers of Iowa received in May for the Partnership’s “Change Your View”
campaign materials.
