Posted: Thursday, December 29, 2011
The Greater Des Moines Partnership is pleased to be sponsoring both the University of Iowa and Iowa State University in pre-game celebrations at their respective bowl games. The Partnership is excited to sponsor these events to showcase just a glimpse of not only Des Moines’ economic and workforce development, but to also highlight our vibrant social and cultural scene.
Hawkeye Huddle
On Thursday, December 29, prior to the Insight Bowl, a Hawkeye Huddle will be hosted by the University of Iowa Alumni Association and the National I-Club at the Phoenix Convention Center. The event includes cash refreshments and concessions and features special guest speakers, Herky, the Hawkeye Marching Band, and the Iowa Spirit Squad. The event will be December 29, from 6-9 p.m. MST. The Greater Des Moines Partnership is proud to be a sponsor of the Huddle to promote the Greater Des Moines region and encourage past residents to think of relocating back to the area. Iowa State Spirit Rally
On game day, Friday, December 30, there will be a Spirit Walk and Rally prior to the game hosted by the Iowa State University (ISU) Athletics Department and ISU Alumni Association, sponsored by the Greater Des Moines Partnership. This event will be in the Great Hall of Yankee Stadium from noon until the gates to the stadium officially open at 1:30 p.m. The location of the Great Hall is between Gates 4 and 6, right off of the subway next to Babe Ruth Plaza. Admission to event is free, however, you will need a game ticket to enter and will not be allowed to re-enter if you exit the stadium.
The program featuring President Greg Geoffroy, Jamie Pollard, Coach Paul Rhoads, Jeff Johnson, the ISU Spirit Squad, Cy, and the ISU band will begin at approximately 12:45 p.m. Pinstripe Bowl lapel pins, poms, and tattoos will be available on a first come, first served basis at the Spirit Walk and Rally. The Spirit Walk will be held in conjunction with the program for the team. Click here to learn more about the Spirit Rally.
