Christiane Amanpour To Address Partnership Annual Dinner!

The Greater Des Moines Partnership will host its 123rd Annual Dinner on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, in the newly renovated ballroom at Vets Auditorium, in Downtown Des Moines. The Annual Dinner is the business community’s celebration of the past year’s successes featuring a keynote speaker, who this year will be ABC News anchor, Christiane Amanpour.
 
Amanpour is the anchor of ABC's Sunday morning political affairs program, "This Week with Christiane Amanpour," which premiered in August of 2010. Amanpour joined ABC from CNN, where she was the network's Chief International Correspondent. She has reported on and from the world's major hot spots including Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Somalia, Israel, the Palestinian territories, Rwanda, the Balkans, and the U.S. during Hurricane Katrina. She has interviewed world leaders from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, including Iranian Presidents Mohammad Khatami and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, as well as the presidents of Afghanistan, Sudan, Syria, and Palestinian leader Yassar Arafat, among others. The Partnership’s Annual Dinner includes a social hour beginning at 5:30 p.m., and the dinner and program beginning at 6:30 p.m. The program includes the presentation of the 2012 Diversity Award(s) and the Partnership’s Annual Report, summarizing the accomplishments of the group’s work in 2011.
