Federal Economic Outlook Event to be held on Sept. 29

“Let’s Get To Work: Improving our Short- AND Long-Term Economic Outlook” will be held on Thursday, September 29 at 7:30 - 9 a.m.  Robert Bixby, executive director for The Concord Coalition, and David Walker, executive director for The Comeback America Initiative and former Comptroller General of the U.S., will discuss the national debt, deficits, and other economic challenges facing Iowa and our nation.

These national, non-partisan, budget experts will help us think constructively about how to build a stronger economic future by meeting the challenges of unsustainable budget policies, spiraling debt, low savings rates, dangerous reliance on foreign lenders, and the growing needs of an aging population.

Discussion Topics Include:

  • Defense and Non-Defense Spending Cuts
  • Social Security Reforms
  • Improvements in the Healthcare System
  • Tax Reforms
  • Tough Budget Controls
  • Where Do We Go from Here?
  • How Can Reforms Lead to a Brighter Future?

The location will be at the Greater Des Moines Partnership, 700 Locust St., Suite 100, Downtown Des Moines.  Free for Partnership Investors and Affiliate Chamber Members, $10 for Non-Members. Continental Breakfast Provided.
