Greater Des Moines Ranks #1 Best City for Young Professionals
Posted: Tuesday, July 12, 2011
Today Forbes magazine announced Greater Des Moines as the #1 Best City For Young Professionals. This is the first time the area has been ranked #1 on the list.
“We have a strong region and even stronger future due to our young professionals,” said Martha Willits, President and CEO of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “We sincerely believe in our young professional population in the metro. We are proud to be recognized for the work we do in assisting and promoting the careers, leadership and advancement of this group.”
Forbes said that prospects are much brighter in Des Moines, the Iowa state capital has a higher concentration of big businesses (1 for every 568 residents) than any other city Forbes assessed, which equals more job opportunities with attracting start-ups and companies relocating from the coasts, and a number of established companies in the area are expanding. Greater Des Moines allows young professionals to have the opportunity to achieve, advance and afford a great quality of life.
This is the first time the area has been ranked #1 on the young professional list but Forbes currently ranks Greater Des Moines the #2 city for business and careers after placing first in 2010.
