Greater Des Moines ranks #2 as Best City for Business and Careers

We are still strong! This week, Forbes ranked Greater Des Moines the #2 best city for business and careers, only dropping one spot from #1 due to lower employment in 2010.

According to Forbes, Des Moines still has plenty to offer with business costs 16 percent below the national average and household incomes that are expected to increase 4.2 percent annually through 2013, eighth best in the U.S. Workers at big employers like Principal Financial and Wells Fargo enjoy cheap housing (median price $148,600) and a 20-minute average commute.
