2011 Environmental Impact Award Winners

The Center on Sustainable Communities, Metro Waste Authority, and Greater Des Moines Partnership honored five organizations and one individual with Environmental Impact Awards at a luncheon, May 18, 2011. The awards program took place at the Des Moines Botanical Center, that was sponsored by Des Moines Water Works.

The Environmental Impact Awards were established to recognize organizations, and leaders who exemplify environmentally sustainable practices.  Awards were given to individuals, businesses, community organizations, and for built environment.

The 2011 Award Winners:

Built Environment Category (presented by Center on Sustainable Communities)
Residential: Iowa Home Crafters Commercial: BNIM Architects

Business Category (presented by Greater Des Moines Partnership)
Small Business: RDG Planning & Design
Large Business: Principal Financial Group 

Individual and Civic Category (presented by Metro Waste Authority)
Individual: Brad Gerndt, Des Moines Resident
Civic: Agriculture’s Clean Water Alliance
