Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute Announces 2012 Distinguished Leadership Award Honorees

Seven community leaders will be recognized by the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute (GDMLI) at the annual Distinguished Leadership Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 3, taking place at the Des Moines Marriott – Downtown. The award recipients exemplify community trusteeship as well as GDMLI’s vision of connecting, inspiring, challenging, and developing community leaders.
WOW! Festival to Debut this Fall

The Downtown Community Alliance and Des Moines Public Library are excited to announce a new event for the Greater Des Moines community called WOW! Wonder of Words Festival (WOW!). This new festival will connect readers, writers, and publishers at events that celebrate reading and share the joy of lifelong learning. WOW! will employ all of the humanities, offering a variety of programs on fascinating subjects to stimulate, enlighten, and entertain Greater Des Moines. WOW! will be held Oct. 21 – 26, 2012 in various locations throughout Downtown Des Moines.
BIZ Introduces New Format for May Luncheon

A new experience and an exceptional opportunity await the attendees to the May edition of the BIZ luncheon. The traditional presentation format will be set aside, in favor of an extended question and answer session featuring successful entrepreneur and mentor, Tej Dhawan, on the subject of “Product Development and Launch.” Mike Colwell, executive director of BIZ, will serve as host and moderator of the event.
