Des Moines Farmer's Market Begins May 10
 Staff members of Rinehart's Farm Fresh Produce offer vegetables and more at the Downtown Farmer's Market. The Market begins May 10. | The fields and farmers have taken a much-needed rest through the winter and now that spring is here it's time to get growing. Mark your calendar - opening day of the Downtown Farmers' Market is Saturday, May 10, 2008, 7 a.m. - noon. In anticipation of the Downtown Farmers' Market season, our farmers have been busy ordering seeds and growing seedlings. The cold spring and late snow have made preparations a bit of a challenge, but don't worry; when opening day arrives, the market will be ready to go. Market patrons can expect to see nearly 200 vendors from 47 Iowa counties, with farm fresh products including Iowa-raised pork, beef, lamb, poultry, fish, elk, baked breads, pies and cinnamon rolls.
