While women had just gained the right to vote, few believed they would one day own 29.6% of metro area businesses. Today's Women's Chamber Alliance (WCA), an affiliate organization of today's Greater Des Moines Partnership, has evolved to meet the needs of its members and its community. As the WCA looks towards its 88th anniversary, the organization's leaders and membership are re-examining how to best accomplish their mission. "We're not our grandmother's chamber alliance anymore," said Roni Schuling, 2008 WCA President. "Today's members are actively engaged in all sectors of the business community. Their needs and interests have grown beyond breaking into the marketplace. They are seeking relationships and tools that can help them grow in their profession, grow their business, and grow their community."
