The ADA: 20 Years Later

On July 13, 2010, Central Iowa Society for Human Resource Management, Principal Financial Group, The Greater Des Moines Partnership and The Employer’s Council of Iowa are proud to present a one hour presentation on the ADA: 20 Years Later.

The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law on July 26, 1990, and is a wideranging law intended to make society more accessible to people with disabilities. Title I of the Act addresses the rights of individuals with disabilities in employment settings. This event will examine the ADA's past, present, and future.

The event’s presenter, Andrew J. Imparato is the President and CEO of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). Mr. Imparato will cover changes in the last 20 years to include the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, best practices around the country, and how to build upon progress. Learners should gain knowledge concerning the impact of ADA on businesses, how the ADA continues to evolve and the trends that organizations need to be aware of for compliance and effective talent management strategies.

Doors open at 7:30 a.m. and the program starts at 8:00 a.m. on July 13, 2010 at the Principal Financial Group Auditorium, Corporate 1, located on 711 High Street in Des Moines.

This event is open to the public but RSVPs are required. Deadline to register is July 8th, 2010. For more information and to register go to http://bit.ly/ADA20th.
